Anastasia Comelli is a filmmaker and photographer living on Kaurna Land in South Australia. With a bold approach to both filmmaking and photography, Anastasia explores and challenges themes of femininity, nostalgia, diaspora, and her cultural identity.

Her debut short film, Nostos, earned accolades at festivals like Adelaide Film Festival, NYC Greek Film Festival, and National Film Festival for Talented Youth. Now, as she works on her second short film, Babougeri—a project generously supported by the Helpmann Academy and Carclew—Anastasia continues to make her mark on the contemporary cinematic scene. Anastasia recently participated in the 2024 Creators Lab by PlayLab Films held in Yucatán, Mexico, where she she was mentored by esteemed filmmaker Pedro Costa.

In addition to her solo achievements, Anastasia has forged a successful partnership with Cambodian-Australian artist and filmmaker Allison Chhorn. Their collaborative work has been featured at the Museum of Contemporary Art as part of The National.

Anastasia is deeply passionate about capturing and reflecting the stories and memories of those around her. She draws inspiration from conversations and connections with both familiar faces and strangers, which ignites her creativity and drives her artistic expression.
